- Sophomore Jordan King leads DMACC with a third-place finish

The DMACC men's cross country team captured its first championship of the season by winning the Indian Hills Invitational October 11 at Ottumwa.
The Bears got a third-place finish from sophomore Jordan King of Ogden as they scored 35 points and finished 43 points ahead of runner-up Indian Hills Community College. Jordan toured the 8K course in 25 minutes, 57 seconds.
The overall winner was Mohamed Dahmouch of Iowa Central Community College (ICCC). His winning time was 24:08.
Freshman Eli Page of Vinton, sophomore Will Thompson of Clive and freshmen Daniel Schoening of Ankeny and Caden Brown of Muscatine gave DMACC four runners in the top ten. Page was fifth in 26:11, Thompson finished eighth with a time of 26:29 and Schoening and Brown were ninth and tenth respectively with times of 26:33 and 26:34.
DMACC sophomores Owen Almelien of Greene and Pat Heffernan of Dunlap closed out the Bears' performance by placing 12th and 14th respectively. Almelien's time was 26:41 and Heffernan posted a time of 26:49.
Six other DMACC runners also competed in the race. Sophomore Jake Hitchcock of Johnston finished 16th with a time of 26:53 and freshman Elijah Blix of Vinton was 17th in 27:01. Freshman Zach Stoermer of Des Moines finished 29th in 27:48, freshman Hunter Landphair of Adel was 30th in 27:50, sophomore Eli Bergman of Hoffman, Minn., placed 40th in 28:58 and sophomore Grant Harrison of Des Moines was 45th with a time of 29:37.
The DMACC men's cross country team will run in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region IX Championships Oct. 25 at Ottumwa
