- Freshman Eli Page leads DMACC with a fifth-place finish
- Sophomores Owen Almeljen and Will Thompson are seventh and eighth respectively
- Freshmen Zach Stoermer and Daniel Schoening are 10th and 12th respectively
Four members of the DMACC men's cross country team finished 10th or better as the Bears took second place in the Grand View Invitational September 20 at Ankeny.
Benedictine College (BC) won the team championship with 22 points and DMACC was second with 42 points. BC's Thomas Campbell was the overall winner, running the 8K race in 27 minutes.
Freshman Eli Page of Vinton led DMCC with a fifth-place finish in 27:20. Sophomores Owen Almelien of Greene and Will Thompson of Clive and freshmen Zach Stoermer of Des Moines were seventh, eighth and tenth respectively. Almelien posted a time of 27:54, Thompson toured the course in 28:11 and Stoermer's time was 28:19.
Freshman Daniel Schoening of Ankeny, sophomore Jake Hitchcock of Johnston and freshman Caden Brown of Muscatine were 12th, 14th and 15th respectively. Schoening's time was 28:33, Hitchcock ran a 28:42 and Brown crossed the finish line in 28:47.
Two other DMACC runners, freshman Hunter Landphair of Adel and sophomore Grant Harrison of Des Moines, competed in the race as individuals. Landphair finished 27th in 29:42 and Harrison was 33rd in 30:50.
The DMACC men's cross country team will run in the Indian Hills Invitational Oct. 11 at Ottumwa.
