
- Sophomore Pat Heffernan takes medalist honors in team race with a time of 26:27
- Sophomore Jordan King finishes third in 26:43
- Sophomore Will Thompson and freshman Eli Page finished seventh and tenth respectively
Sophomore Pat Heffernan of Dunlap took medalist honors in the team competition as the DMACC cross country team finished second to Wartburg College (WC) in the Trent Smith Invitational Sept. 13 at Mason City.
Adrian Welton, running unattached, was the overall winner with a time of 26 minutes, 22 seconds over the 8K course.
Heffernan posted a time of 26:27 as the Bears came away with 34 points and finished eight points behind Wartburg College.
Sophomores Jordan King of Ogden and Will Thompson of Clive and freshman Eli Page of Vinton joined Heffernan with top 10 finishes. King was third in 26:43, Thompson placed seventh in 26:54 and Page posted a time of 27:01, good for tenth place.
Freshman Zach Sterner of Des Moines rounded out DMACC's performance with a 13th-place finish in 27:22.
Other DMACC runners in the meet included freshman Daniel Schoening of Ankeny, freshman Elijah Blix of Vinton, sophomore Owen Almeljen of Greene, freshman Caden Brown of Muscatine, sophomore Grant Harrison of Des Moines, sophomore Jake Hitchcock of Johnston and freshman Hunter Landphair of Adel.
Schoening was 15th in 27:28, Blix finished in 16th place with a time of 27:38 and Almeljen, Brown and Harrison were 25th, 26th and 27th respectively with times of 27:55, 28:12 and 28:18. Hitchcock posted a time of 28:58, placing 33rd and Landphair's time of 29:31 was good for 34th place.
The DMACC men's cross country team will run in the Grand View Invitational Sept. 21 at Ankeny.
