
- Sophomore Jordan King leads DMACC second- and fifth-place finishes
- Bears get a third in the 4x800-meter relay
- Sophomore Will Thompson is fifth in the 5000-meter run
Sophomores Jordan King of Ogden and Will Thompson of Clive led the way as the DMACC men's track & field team competed in the Region 11 Championships May 2 to 4 at Council Bluffs.
King finished second in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15 minutes, 43.52 seconds and was fifth in the 10000-meter run, posting a time of 33:23.81. Thompson was fifth in the 5000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 16:16.22.
The Bears also got a third in the 4x800-meter run with freshman Zach Stoermer of Des Moines, freshman Hunter Landphair, sophomore Pat Heffernan of Dunlap and freshman Eli Page of Vinton running the event in 7:53.76.
Page, Stoermer, Heffernan and sophomore Eli Bergman of Hoffman, Minn., ran in the men's 1500-meter run and finishes ninth, 14th, 15th and 29th respectively. Page's time was 3:56.53, Stoemer crossed the finish line in 4:06.19, Heffernan was timed in 4:06.499 and Bergman turned in a time of 4:34.64.
Page, Stoermer, Landphair and Heffernan will represent DMACC in the 2025 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Men's & Women's Track & Field Championships May 15 to 17 at Gowan Stadium in Hutchinson, Kan. The four will run in the 4x800-meter relay and Page and Stoermer will also compete in the men's 1500-meter run.
