The DMACC men's track & field team was in Ames February 8 for the Cyclone Classic.
The Bears competed in three events, the men's mile run, the men's 800-meter run and the men's 3000-meter run.
Sophomores Owen Almelien of Greene and Will Thompson of Clive led DMACC with 19th- and 27th-place finishes respectively in the 3000-meter run. Almelien's time was 8 minutes, 51.13 seconds and Thompson turned in a time of 9:09.02.
Freshman Eli Page of Vinton led five DMACC runners in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 19th place. His time was 1:56.44. Freshmen Zack Stoermer of Des Moines and Daniel Schoening of Ankeny, sophomore Pat Heffernan of Dunlap and freshman Caden Brown of Muscatine also competed in the 800-meter run finishing 33rd, 39th, 40th and 41st respectively. Stoermer's time was 1:58.68, Schoening crossed the finish line in 2:05.84, Heffernan posted a time of 2:06.12 and Brown's time was 2:07.44.
Heffernan, sophomore Jordan King of Ogden, Schoening, Brown and freshman Hunter Landphair of Adel ran in the men's mile run with Heffernan leading the DMACC runners by placing 35th in 4:33.69. King's time of 4:39.69 was good for 36th place and Schoening posted a time of 4:40.01 in finishing 37th. Brown and Landphair were 39th and 41st respectively. Brown's time was 4:42.81 and Landphair finished in 4:56.67.
