• Freshman Luke Linde leads DMACC with a tie for 19^th place

A pair of freshmen led the way as the DMACC men's golf team finished ninth in the 2024 NJCAA National Championship Fall Preview Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at Swan Lake Golf Resort in Plymouth, Ind.

Freshman Luke Linde of Winterset shot a one-over-par 73 and freshman Zach Wilson of Ames shot a 79 as the Bears posted a 309 in the tournament's second round and finished the 36-hole event in ninth place with 615 strokes. Linde tied for 19^th in the individual competition with a 36-hole score of 148, four over par. Wilson tied for 38^th place in a two-day total of 153.

Parkland College (PC) captured the team championship with 582 strokes, four strokes better than runner-up Murray State Community College (MSCC).

Top individual honors went to MSCC's Jeremy Godin with a 36-hole score of 140 on rounds of 69 and 71.

Other DMACC results saw sophomore Caleb Ham of Hudson tie for 43^rd place. Sophomore Lari Hakanen of Kerava, Finland, finished in 70^th place and freshman Ryan Schmierer of North Liberty finished in 90^th place. Ham posted a 79 in the second round for a 36-hole score of 154. Hakanen shot a 78 in the second round for a 36-hole score of 160 and Schmierer finished the two-day tournament at 171 after shooting an 81 in the second round.

DMACC freshman Ethan Nace of Iowa City competed as an individual and tied for 82^nd place. His second-round 84 gave him a 36-hole score of 165.

The DMACC men's golf team will play in the Quad Cup Oct. 11 at a site to be determined.
