DMACC men's golf team wins North Central District Preview
  • Sophomores Drew Teeter and Layden Losh lead DMACC with a one-over-par 73s
  • Three DMACC golfers tie for fifth
  • Bears top runner-up Iowa Central CC by three strokes

 

Sophomores Drew Teeter of Albert Lea, Minn., and Layden Losh of Boone tied for medalist honors with one-over-par 73s and led the DMACC men's golf team to a first-place finish in the North Central District Preview April 8 at Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo.

 

The Bears posted an 18-hole score of seven-over-par 295 and finished three stokes in front of Iowa Central Community College (ICCC). Hawkeye Community College (HCC) was third at 303 and Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) and Southwestern Community College (SWCC), tied for fourth at 304.

 

The win was the Bears' second straight, coming on the heels of a win in the Black Hawk Spring Invite April 4 and 5 at Pinnacle Country Club in Milan, Ill.

 

Teeter and Losh shared medalist honors with Kaeden Anderson and Bruno Marti Jimenez, both of HCC.

 

DMACC sophomores Spencer Clatt of Gilbert and Kaleb Allen of West Burlington and freshman Lari Hakanen of Kerava, Finland, tied for fifth with two-over-par 74s.

 

Other DMACC results included a tie for 27th by sophomore Calvin McNeeley of Pleasant Hill, who shot a 79. Sophomores Cade McGill of Johnston and Drake Anderson of Sioux City tied for 31st with seven-over-par 78s and freshman Caleb Ham of Hudson tied for 40th with an 81. Sophomore Cole Johnson of Sioux City and freshman Zach Julander of Pleasant Hill rounded out DMACC's performance with 82 and 85 respectively. Johnson tied for 45th and Julander finished in 51st place.
