The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Da'Shon Fisher the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Men's Basketball for the week of November 25 to December 1.
Fisher, a sophomore from Iowa City, is being honored for the first time this season and he is the second member of the DMACC men's basketball team to honored by the conference during the 2024-25 season. Trevian Carson, a sophomore from Des Moines, has been honored twice, the week of Nov. 11 to 17 and the week of Oct. 28 to Nov. 3.
Fisher scored 34 points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out two assists, had one steal and blocked three shots as the Bears, ranked sixth in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, recorded two wins during the week. He had 17 points, three rebounds, two assists and three blocked shots in a 105-74 win over Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) on Nov. 25 and came away with 17 points, two rebounds and a steal in a 79-65 win over Southwestern Community College (SWCC) on Nov. 30.
Fisher has scored 147 points and is averaging 14.7 points and 3.6 rebounds a game for the Bears, who are 9-1 overall and 1-0 in the ICCAC. He is shooting 58 percent from the field, having made 57 of 99 field goal attempts. Fisher is 7-of-22 from three-point range and 26-of-37 from the free throw line. He has 36 rebounds, including 23 defensive rebounds, and his season includes 11 assists, 11 steals and six blocked shots.
The DMACC men's basketball team will face Northeast (Neb.) Community College in an ICCAC matchup tonight inside the DMACC gymnasium. Game time is 7:30 p.m. NECC is 3-4 overall and tonight's game will be the Hawks' ICCAC opener.
