The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Trevian Carson the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Men's Basketball for the week of October 28 to November 3.
Carson is the first member of the DMACC men's basketball team to be honored by the conference this season.
Carson helped the Bears to two wins during the week. He scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as DMACC opened the season with an 86-78 win over Missouri State-West Plains (MSWP) Nov. 1 in the Southeastern Classic at West Burlington. He scored 10 points and had four rebounds and five assists in the Bears' 94-65 win over John Wood Community College (JWCC) Nov. 2, the second day of the Southeastern Classic.
Carson has scored 29 points in two games this season. He is shooting 60 percent from the field, having made 12 of 20 field goal attempts. He has made two of three three-point attempts for 67 percent and is perfect at the free throw line, having made all three of his free throw attempts. His season also includes 18 rebounds, eight assists and three steals.
The DMACC men's basketball team, ranked third in the Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), will host the DMACC Invitational Nov. 8 and 9 inside the DMACC gymnasium. The Bears will play Bryant and Stratton (Wis.) College (BSC) on Nov. 8 and will face the William Penn University Junior Varsity on Nov. 9.
