James Glenn leads DMACC men's basketball team past KCC, 102-86

Sophomore James Glenn of Altoona led four players in double figures with 22 points as the DMACC men's basketball team handed Kirkwood Community College (KCC) a 102-86 loss December 9 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Sophomore Elijah Thomas of Surprise, Ariz., tallied 20 points, sophomore Trey Lewis of Johnston scored 18 and sophomore Victory Desmond of Onalaska, Wis., had 15 as the Bears improved to 12-1 overall and 3-0 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with their fifth consecutive victory.

 

The game featured a pair of ranked teams. DMACC is fourth in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll and KCC is 10th. The Eagles fell to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in the ICCAC.

 

DMACC got the win in the second half when the Bears outscored KCC 57-42 after leading 45-44 at halftime.

 

DMACC shot 54 percent from the field, hitting 32 of 59 field goal attempts. The Bears were 10-of-24 from three-point range and 28-of-36 from the free throw line.

 

Freshman Trevian Carson of Des Moines pulling down 10 rebounds to lead the Bears to a 48-27 advantage on the boards. Thomas came away with nine rebounds, Desmond had seven and Glenn and sophomore Angelo Winkel of Algona pulled down six apiece. Freshman Demerius Shakur of Milwaukee, Wis., led the Bears in assists with four and Thomas and Lewis had three apiece.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will play Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) Dec. 13 at Fort Dodge. The Tritons are 1-8 overall and 0-2 in the ICCAC.
