Sophomore Trey Lewis of Johnston scored 26 points and sophomore James Glenn of Altoona added 25 as the DMACC men's basketball team handed North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) a 103-79 loss in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) opener for both teams December 2 at Mason City.

 

DMACC had a comfortable 46-33 advantage at halftime and put the game out of reach with a 57-point second half in improving to 10-1 for the season with its third consecutive victory.

 

The Bears, ranked fifth in the Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) have scored 100 or more points in their last three games and have surpassed 100 points in six of their 10 wins.

 

Lewis' points game from nine field goals in 10 attempts, including going 2-of-3 from three-point range. He was 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Glenn was 9-of-17 from the field, 3-of-7 from three-point range, and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.

 

DMACC shot 51.3 percent in the win, making 40 of 78 field goal attempts. The Bears were 8-of-24 from three-point range and 15-of-17 from the free throw line.

 

Freshman Trevian Carson of Des Moines grabbed 12 rebounds as the Bears controlled the boards, 52-40. Freshman Da'Shon Fisher of Iowa City had seven rebounds and Lewis and Glenn finished with ten and seven respectively.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will face Western Iowa Tech (WIT) Dec. 6 inside the DMACC gymnasium. Game time is 7:30 p.m. IWT is 3-4 overall and 0-1 in the ICCAC.
