Sophomores James Glenn of Altoona and Angelo Winkel of Algona scored 22 points apiece as the DMACC men's basketball team rolled to a 112-60 win over the Grand View University Junior Varsity November 27 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Sophomores Elijah Thomas of Surprise, Ariz., and Victor Desmond of Onalaska, Wis., tallied 13 points apiece, freshman Oma Elchazli of Katy, Texas, had 12 points and sophomores Trey Lewis of Johnston and Trevian Carson of Des Moines scored 10 points apiece as the Bears improved to 9-1 for the season.

 

The Bears have surpassed 100 points in five of their nine wins.

 

DMACC, ranked fifth in this week's Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), held a 64-38 advantage at halftime.

 

The Bears shot 64 percent from the field, hitting 47 of 74 field goal attempts. They were 36-of-46 from inside the arc, 11-of-28 from beyond the arc and 7-of-12 from the free throw line.

 

Glenn got his 22 points from eight field goals in 10 attempts, He was 5-of-7 from three-point range and made his only free throw attempt. Winkel was 10-of-11 from the field, including 10-of-10 inside the arc, and he, too, made his only free throw attempt.

 

Winkel recorded another double-double with 13 rebounds as DMACC came away with a 39-25 advantage on the boards. Lewis had 10 assists to go with his 10 points and Glenn topped the Bears in steals with three.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will begin play in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference on Dec. 2 when the Bears face North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) at Mason City. The Trojans are 6-3 this season.
