DMACC men's basketball team routs Marshalltown CC, 107-66

 

The DMACC men's basketball team built a 56-30 halftime lead and cruised to a 107-66 win over Marshalltown Community College (MCC) November 21 at Marshalltown.

 

Sophomore Angelo Winkel of Algona led four players in double figures with 16 points. Freshmen Da'Shon Fisher of Iowa City and Trey Lewis of Johnston and sophomore James Glenn of Altoona also reached double figures with 15, 14 and 13 points respectively. Sophomores Victor Desmond of Onalaska, Wis., and Ethan Thomas of Greenfield, Wis., and freshman Trevian Carson of Des Moines barely missed double figures with nine points apiece.

 

DMACC shot 54 percent in the win, making 38 of 70 field goal attempts. The Bears were 10-of-28 from three-point range and 21-of-26 at the free throw line.

 

Carson grabbed seven rebounds and Winkel and freshman Omar Elchazli of Katy, Texas, had six apiece as DMACC came away with a 50-23 advantage on the boards. Lewis and sophomore Elijah Thomas of Surprise, Ariz., topped the Bears in assists with four apiece and freshman Demerius Shakur of Milwaukee. Wis., led the way in steals with three. Winkel also had a pair of blocked shots.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will be home to the Grand View University Junior Varsity today. Game time is 6 p.m. inside the DMACC gymnasium.
