Cael McGee's 19 points lift DMACC men's basketball team past Graceland JV, 103-48

Freshman Cael McGee of Stoughton, Wis., led six players in double figures with 19 points as the DMACC men's basketball team opened the home portion of its schedule with a 103-48 win over the Graceland University Junior varsity (GUJV) November 8 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

The Bears, ranked sixth in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), led throughout the game, including 44-25 at halftime.

 

Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) Jimarius Sneed of Chicago, Ill., followed McGee in scoring with 14 points, freshman Angelo Winkel of Algona and CoSO Saiveon Williams of Chicago, Ill., scored 12 points apiece and freshmen Elijah Thomas of Surprise, Ariz., and Kwat Abdelkarim of Lincoln, Neb., added 10 points apiece as the Bears improved to 4-0 for the season.

 

DMACC shot 62 percent in the win, making 43 of 69 field goal attempts. The Bears were 7-of-25 from three-point range and 10-of-15 from the free throw line.

 

DMACC came away with a 50-24 advantage on the boards with Sneed's eight rebounds leading the way. Winkel and Abdelkarim had six rebounds apiece and sophomore Greg Brown of Omaha, Neb., added five rebounds to go with a team-high five assists. Winkel, Williams and freshman Victor Desmond of Onalaska, Wis., recorded two blocked shots apiece and Williams led DMACC in steals with three.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will continue its eight-game homestand Nov. 12 when the Bears face Dakota County Community College (DCCC). Game time is 3 p.m. inside the DMACC gymnasium.
