DMACC's Jadan Graves named NJCAA First-Team All-American

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named DMACC's Jadan Graves a first-team All-American for Division II men's basketball for the 2021-22 season.

 

The honor is the second of the season for Graves who was named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Player of the Year.

 

Graves, a Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) from Syracuse, N.Y., led the Bears to a third-place finish in the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship this season. DMACC was the defending national champion, having won the title in 2021.

 

Graves is the second member of the DMACC men's basketball team to earn Division II first-team All-American honors in the past two seasons. Willie Guy of Cedar Rapids capped DMACC's national championship season in 2021 by earning NJCAA Division II first-team All-American honors.

 

Graves led the ICCAC is scoring this season, averaging 16.6 points a game. He also led the ICCAC in three-point shooting at 48 percent. Graves finished third in NJCAA Division II in three-point shooting at 48.3 percent and his 97 three-pointers were the seventh most in the country. Graves set a new school record for three-pointers in a game with nine against Marshalltown Community College (MCC) on Jan. 18.

 

Graves, who averaged 4.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists a game this season, scored 547 points. He shot 49 percent from the field, hitting 181 of 372 field goal attempts. He made 111 of 231 three-point attempts and was 74-of-91 from the free throw line for 81 percent. Graves' season also included 156 rebounds, including 139 defensive rebounds, 102 assists and 30 steals.

 

In addition to finishing third in the national tournament, the DMACC men's basketball team tied for the ICCAC regular season championship and won the NJCAA Region XI championship.
