DMACC men's basketball team tops NECC for tenth straight win

Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Goanar Biliew of Denison led three players in double figures with 14 points as the DMACC men's basketball team stretched its winning streak to 10 games behind a 78-54 victory against Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) February 16 at Norfolk, Neb.

 

Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) Jadan Graves tallied 12 points and freshman Greg Brown of Omaha, Neb., came away with 10 as the Bears improved to 20-6 for the season and 11-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). Sophomore Hakeen Odunsi of Iowa City and freshman James Glenn of Altoona barely missed double figures with nine points apiece.

 

DMACC, ranked 11th in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), has won 12 of its last 13 games.

 

The Bears never trailed including scoring the game's first ten points. They led 42-32 at halftime and pulled away in the second half.

 

DMACC shot 50 percent in the win, making 31 of 62 field goal attempts. The Bears were 12-of-25 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.

 

 

DMACC came away with a 40-32 advantage in rebounding. Freshman Allen Udemadu of Lagos, Nigeria, led the Bears with eight rebounds, Odunsi and Biliew had six apiece and Brown and CoFR Jimarius Sneed of Coral Springs, Fla., had five apiece. Glenn and sophomore Michael Hartford of McKinney, Texas, led DMACC in assists with three apiece and Hartford topped the Bears in steals with three.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will host Southwestern Community College (SWCC) on Feb. 19. SWCC is 13-14 overall and 6-8 in the ICCAC. The Spartans dropped a 73-66 decision to DMACC when the two teams played Jan. 8 at Creston.
