DMACC's Goanar Biliew named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Men's Basketball
  • Biliew earned the honor for the weeks of Jan. 10-16 and Dec. 13-18
  • DMACC CoSO Jadan Graves has also been honored by the conference
  • DMACC CoSO Noah Parcher earned the honor for the week of Nov. 1-7

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Goanar Biliew the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II men's basketball for the week of February 7 to 13.

 

Biliew, a Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) from Denison, is being honored by the conference for the third time this season. He also earned the honor for the week of Jan. 10 to 16 and Dec. 13 to 19.

 

Biliew is also the third member of the DMACC men's basketball team to be honored by the conference this season. Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) Jadan Graves of Syracuse, N.Y., was honored for the weeks of Jan. 17 to 23 and Nov. 15 to 21 and CoSO Noah Parcher of LaCrosse, Wis., earned the award for the week of Nov. 1 to 7.

 

Biliew led the Bears to a pair of wins during the week. He recorded his third double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds and also blocked three shots as the Bears, ranked 13th in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), defeated Iowa Western Community College (IWCC), 71-70, Feb. 8 at Council Bluffs.

 

Biliew scored eight points and pulled down seven rebounds in a 115-79 win over North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC), Feb. 10 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Biliew is averaging 12.3 points and 7.2 rebounds a game this season for the Bears, who improved to 19-6 overall and 10-2 in the ICCAC with a 73-71 win over NIACC Feb. 14 at Mason City. Biliew is averaging 13.6 points and 7.4 rebounds a game in ICCAC play.

 

Biliew is shooting 61.9 percent from the field, having made 122 of 197 field goal attempts. He is 62 of 88 from the free throw line for 71 percent and has made one of five three-point attempts.

 

Biliew's season also includes 179 rebounds, including 137 defensive rebounds, 35 blocked shots, 13 assists and 11 steals.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will play Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) tonight at Norfolk, Neb. The Bears defeated the Hawks, 91-70 when the two teams played Feb. 2 inside the DMACC gymnasium. NECC is  4-19 overall and 0-12 in the ICCAC.
