Balanced scoring lifts DMACC men's basketball team past NIACC, 73-71

Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Goanar Biliew of Denison led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points as the DMACC men's basketball team stretched its current winning streak to nine games with a 73-71 win over North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) February 14 at Mason City.

 

Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) Jadan Graves of Syracuse, N.Y., scored 13 points, sophomore Michael Hartford of McKinney, Texas, and freshman Allen Udemadu of Lagos, Nigeria, had 12 points apiece and CoSO Noah Parcher of LaCrosse, Wis., came away with 10 points as the Bears improved to 19-6 overall and 10-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with their 11th win in their last 12 games.

 

DMACC led 31-28 at halftime. The Bears shot 43 percent in the win, making 27 of 63 field goal attempts. They were 6-of-22 from three-point range and 13-of-18 from the free throw line.

 

NIACC came away with a 49-47 advantage on the boards with freshman Greg Brown of Omaha, Neb., leading DMACC with 10 rebounds. Udemadu had seven and Parcher added six. Brown topped the Bears in assists with five and Hartford and Parcher had four apiece. Brown also led DMACC in steals with three and Parcher had two.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will play Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) Feb. 16 at Norfolk, Neb. NECC is 4-19 overall and 0-12 in the ICCAC. DMACC defeated the Hawks 91-70 when the two teams played Feb. 2 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
