DMACC men's basketball team tops NECC, 91-70

Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) Jadan Graves led three players in double figures with 18 points as the DMACC men's basketball team pushed its current winning streak to six games with a 91-70 win over Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) February 2 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Goanar Biliew of Denison scored 14 points and CoSO Noah Parcher of LaCrosse, Wis., had 10 as the Bears improved to 16-6 overall and 7-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with their eighth win in their last nine games.

 

DMACC, ranked 15th in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), led 37-32 at halftime and pulled away behind a 54-point second half. The Bears used a 12-2 run to open up a 55-41 advantage less than seven minutes into the half and led by as many as 22 points with just more than four minutes to play.

 

DMACC shot 58 percent in the win, hitting 36 of 62 field goal attempts. The Bears were 5-of-18 from three-point range and 14-of-20 from the free throw line.

 

CoFR Jimarius Sneed of Chicago, Ill., had seven rebounds and Biliew came away with six as both teams finished with 38 rebounds. Graves led the Bears in assists with eight and sophomore Hakeem Odunsi of Iowa City added five. Graves and freshman Greg Brown of Omaha, Neb., had two steals apiece.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will play Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) Feb. 8 at Council Bluffs. IWCC is 15-7 overall and 6-5 in the ICCAC. DMACC defeated the Reivers 90-86 when the two teams played Jan. 12 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
