Graves Leads DMACC men's basketball team past ICCC, 87-47

 

Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) Jadan Graves of Syracuse, N.Y., led four players in double figures with 23 points as the DMACC men's DMACC men's basketball team defeated Iowa Central Community College (ICCC), 87-47, Jan. 20 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Freshman Udemadu of Lagos, Nigeria, had 13 points and CoSO Noah Parcher of LaCrosse, Wis., and Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Goanar Biliew of Denison tallied 12 points apiece as the Bears improved to 14-6 overall and 5-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

Graves, who leads the ICCAC in scoring with a 17.4 average and is second in three-point shooting at 49 percent, got his 23 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, including hitting six of eight three-point attempts. He was 1-of-2 from the free throw line.

 

DMACC never trailed in beating the Tritons for the second time this season. The Bears were up 13-2 with the game just more than four minutes old and had a 44-18 advantage at halftime. They never led by less than 30 points in the last 16 minutes of the game.

 

DMACC shot 59 percent in the win, connecting on 34 of 58 field goal attempts. The Bears were 11-of-22 from three-point range and 8-of-12 from the free throw line.

 

DMACC came away with a 49-28 advantage on the boards with Udemadu's eight rebounds leading the Bears. Sophomore Odunsi Hakeem of Iowa City had seven rebounds and Graves, Biliew and Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Jimarius Sneed of Chicago, Ill., had six rebounds apiece. Parcher dished out a team-high eight assists and sophomore Mike Hartford of McKinney, Texas, led DMACC in steals with three.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will be home to Ellsworth Community College (ECC) on Jan. 22. Game time is 3 p.m. inside the DMACC gymnasium. ECC is 13-8 overall and 4-4 in the ICCAC. The Panthers' wins include a 71-61 decision over the Bears Jan. 5 at Iowa Falls.
