Graves scores 31 as DMACC men's basketball team tops MCC, 85-58

Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) Jadan Graves of Syracuse, N.Y., scored 31 points to lead the DMACC men's basketball team to an 85-58 win over Marshalltown Community College (MCC) January 18 at Marshalltown.

 

Graves got his 31 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field, including hitting nine of 13 three-point attempts. CoSO Noah Parcher of LaCrosse, Wis., sophomore Jimarius Sneed of Chicago, Ill., and freshman Hakeem Odunsi of Iowa City tallied nine points apiece as the Bears improved to 13-6 for the season.

 

MCC scored the game's first two points and it was DMACC the rest of the way. The Bears had a 25-15 lead with just less than seven minutes to go in the first half and settled for a 39-28 advantage at halftime. They put the game out of reach in the second half, leading by as many as 32 points in the final four minutes.

 

DMACC shot 51 percent in the win, hitting 32 of 63 field goal attempts. The Bears were 15-of-27 from three-point range and 6-of-10 from the free throw line.

 

Parcher, Sneed, Odunsi and Covid-19 (CoFR) freshman Jean Francois of Coral Springs, Fla., grabbed five rebounds apiece to lead DMACC to a 44-33 advantage on the boards. Graves and freshman James Glenn of Altoona dished out five assists apiece and Glenn topped the Bears in steals with three. CoFR Goanar Biliew of Denison and freshman Allen Udemadu of Lagos, Nigeria, recorded two blocked shots apiece.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will be home to Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) on Jan. 20. Game time is 7:30 p.m. inside the DMACC gymnasium. DMACC is 4-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) and ICCC is 11-9 overall and 3-4 in the ICCAC. DMACC defeated the Tritons 74-55 when the two teams played Dec. 1 in Fort Dodge.
