The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Goanar Biliew the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II men's basketball for the week of January 10 to 16.
This marks the second time Biliew, a covid-19 freshman (CoFR) from Denison, has been honored by the conference this season and he is the third member of the DMACC men's basketball team to receive the honor this season. Biliew also earned the honor for the week of Dec. 13-19. Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) Jadan Graves was honored for the week of Nov. 15-21 and CoSO Noah Parcher of LaCrosse, Wis., earned the honor for the week of Nov. 1-7.
The DMACC men's basketball team played just one game during the week, defeating Iowa Western Community College (IWCC), 90-86, behind a career-high 31 points and eight rebounds from Biliew. He made 10 of 12 field goal attempts and was 11-of-16 from the free throw line. His game line also included two blocked shots, one steal and one assist. IWCC entered the game as the No. 7 team in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll.
Biliew is averaging. 12.3 points a game and he leads the Bears in rebounding with a 7.2 average. Biliew is shooting 61 percent from the field, having made 87 of 142 field goal attempts. He is 54-of-74 from the free throw line for 73 percent. Biliew has pulled down 132 rebounds, including 100 defensive rebounds. His season also includes 25 blocked shots, 11 steals and 10 assists.
The DMACC men's basketball team, 13-6 overall and 4-2 in the ICCAC, is home to Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) on Jan. 20. The Tritons are 11-9 overall and 3-4 in the ICCAC. DMACC came away with a 74-55 decision when the two teams played Dec. 1 at Fort Dodge.
