Parcher's 15 points lift DMACC men's basketball team past SWCC, 73-66

Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) Noah Parcher of LaCrosse, Wis., led four players in double figures with 15 points as the DMACC men's basketball team recorded a 73-66 win over Southwestern Community College (SWCC) January 8 at Creston.

 

CoSO Jadan Graves of Syracuse, N.Y., and Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Goanar Biliew of Denison scored 13 points apiece and freshman Greg Brown of Omaha, Neb., had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds as the Bears improved to 11-6 overall and 3-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

The game was close all the way with DMACC never leading by more than nine points and SWCC never leading by more than three points. The Bears had a 32-31 lead at halftime and pulled away from a 57-57 tie with four minutes, two seconds to play to get the win.

 

Graves' three-pointer with 3:27 left gave DMACC a 60-57 advantage and the Bears never trailed the rest of the way. They led by as many as eight points with 16 seconds remaining.

 

DMACC, ranked 17th in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, shot 55 percent in the win, hitting 30 of 55 field goal attempts. The Bears were 7-of-21 from three-point range and 6-of-7 from the free throw line.

 

Brown's 10 rebounds lifted DMACC to a 35-24 advantage on the boards. Biliew came away with six rebounds and Graves and CoFR Jean Francois of Coral Springs, Fla., had four rebounds apiece. Parcher led the Bears in assists with six.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will face Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) on Jan. 12. Game time is 7:30 p.m. inside the DMACC gymnasium. IWCC is 13-2 overall and 4-0 in the ICCAC. The Reivers are ranked seventh in NJCAA Division II.
