DMACC's Goanar Biliew named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Men's Basketball

  • Biliew scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds in a win over Labette CC
  • Biliew had 12 points and eight rebounds in a victory against Iowa Lakes CC

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Goanar Biliew the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II men's basketball for the week of December 13 to 19.

 

Biliew, a Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) from Denison, is the third member of the DMACC men's basketball team to be honored by the conference this season. Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) Noah Parcher of LaCrosse, Wis., was honored for the week of November 1 to 7 and CoSO Jadan Graves of Syracuse, N.Y. was honored the week of Nov. 15 to 21.

 

Biliew helped the Bears to two wins during the week. He scored 20 points and had six rebounds in a 100-72 win over Labette Community College (LCC) on Dec. 14 and scored 12 points and came away with eight rebounds in an 84-72 win over Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) on Dec. 18. The Lakers are ranked 11th in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). DMACC is ranked 20th.

 

Biliew has scored 169 points in 15 games this season and is averaging 11.3 points and 7.1 rebounds a game. He is shooting 62 percent from the field, having made 67 of 108 field goal attempts. Biliew has made 35 of 48 free throw attempts for 73 percent.

 

Biliew has a team-leading 106 rebounds this season, including 81 defensive rebounds. His season also includes 21 blocked shots, eight assists and nine steals.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team is idle until Jan. 5 when the Bears will face Ellsworth Community College (ECC) at Iowa Falls. DMACC is 10-5 overall and 2-1 in the ICCAC. ECC is 11-5 overall and 2-2 in the ICCAC.
