The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Jaqson Tejada the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Baseball (pitching) for the week of April 28 to May 4.
Tejada, a sophomore from Marion, is being honored for the second consecutive week and the third time this season and he is one of four members of the DMACC baseball team to be honored by the conference this season. Sophomores Ty Thompson of Council Bluffs and Konner Entz of Fargo, N.D., have also been honored for their pitching and freshman Archer Ogbourne of Carlisle has been honored for his hitting.
Tejada threw a one-hitter in the Bears' 6-0 win over Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) May 3 at the DMACC baseball diamond. He threw all seven innings, striking out eight and walking three.
Tejada retired the first 17 batters he faced and allowed a single to the third batter he faced in the seventh inning. He threw a total of 89 pitches, 56 of them strikes.
Tejada is 3-2 with a save and a 5.19 earned run average this season. He has pitched 43 and a third innings, allowing 37 runs, 25 earned runs, on 38 hits. Tejada has struck out 44 batters and walked 23. He is averaging 1.72 hits and walks per inning. Tejada has made nine starts and has pitched two complete games.
Tejada's performance came on the heels of a no-hitter he threw in a 1-0 win over Kirkwood Community College (KCC) April 26 at Cedar Rapids.
The DMACC baseball team, 23-28, is the No. 5 seed in the 2025 Region 11 Division II Baseball Championship May 8 to 11 at Carroll. The Bears will face fourth-seeded Ellsworth Community College (ECC) in their tournament opener May 8 at noon. ECC defeated DMACC in two of the three games the two teams played this season.
