DMACC baseball team caps three-game sweep of ECC with 11-0 win

 

The DMACC baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Ellsworth Community College (ECC) with an 11-0 victory over the Panthers April 24 at Iowa Falls. The Bears took the first two games in a doubleheader on April 23.

 

Sophomore Reed Stallman of Alburnett drove in three runs and sophomore Brodie Kresser of Jesup came away with three base hits. Freshman Camden Kaufman of Waukee got the win on a two-hitter.

 

DMACC took a 1-0 lead in the second, went up 6-0 with five runs in the third. The Bears put the game away with one run in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings and two runs in the seventh.

 

Freshman Mitchell Cummins of Chanhassen, Minn., joined Stallman with two hits in the game and freshman Kannon Coakley of Maquoketa homered.

 

Kaufman went all seven innings and notched his first win of the season against two losses. In addition to allowing two hits, he struck out four and walked one.

 

The DMACC baseball team will face Southeastern Community College (SECC) in a doubleheader April 26 at West Burlington. SECC is 33-12 overall and 17-6 in the ICCAC. DMACC defeated the Black Hawks 20-10 in a single game April 12 at the DMACC baseball diamond.
