DMACC baseball team tops Johnson County CC, 8-3

 

 

  • Sophomore Joe Husak earns his fourth win of the season

 

The DMACC baseball team improved to 9-8 for the season with an 8-3 decision over Johnson County Community College (JCCC) March 14 at Overland Park, Kan.

 

Sophomore Reed Stallman of Alburnett drove in three runs and sophomore Brodie Kresser of Jesup had a pair of base hits in the win, which came behind a seven-run third inning.

 

Freshmen Mitch Cummins of Chanhassen, Minn., and Camden Kaufman of Waukee also had hits for DMACC and sophomore Gage Franck of Marion and freshman Jaylen Ziegler of Urbandale drove in one run apiece.

 

Sophomore Joe Husak of Cambridge pitched the first three innings for the Bears and improved to 4-1 with the win. He allowed one run on one hit, struck out four and walked one. Freshman J.C. Dermody of Council Bluffs threw an inning and two-thirds and gave up two runs on three hits with two walks and freshman Zach Hoehn of Waseca, Wis., went an inning and a third, striking out one batter and walking one. Freshman Chance Key of Waverly earned his second save of the season. He pitched three hitless innings and walked one batter.
