Cael McGee; ICCAC Athlete of the Week

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC’s Cael McGee the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Men’s Basketball team for the week of January 9 to 15.

 

McGee, a freshman from Stoughton, Wis., scored 59 points in helping the Bears to two wins during the week. He had a season-high 30 points in a 103-70 win over Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) on Jan. 11 and added 29 points in an 89-58 win over Central (Neb.) Community College (CCC) on Jan. 14.

 

McGee made 11 of 13 shots from the field in the win over ICCC. He was 1-of-2 from three-point range and made seven of eight free throw attempts. Against CCC, McGee was nearly perfect, making 12 of 13 field goal attempts, including two three-pointers in two attempts. He also made all three of his free throws.

 

For the week, McGee was 23-of-26 from the field, 3-of-4 from three-point range and 10-of-11 from the free throw line.

 

McGee leads DMACC in scoring, averaging 15.1 points a game. He has scored 301 points and is shooting 58 percent from the field with 108 field goals in 184 attempts. McGee is 19-of-46 from three-point range for 41 percent and had made 66 of 90 free throw attempts for 73 percent.

McGee’s season also includes 71 rebounds, 58 defensive rebounds, 31 assists, 11 steals and four blocked shots.
