Twelve DMACC softball players earn all-region honors

Twelve DMACC softball players earn all-region honors
  • Six DMACC players named to the All-Region First Team
  • Bears place four players on the second team
  • Two DMACC players receive honorable mention recognition

 

Twelve members of the DMACC softball team have earned postseason recognition on the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Region XI All-Region Softball Team.

 

Freshmen Abby Flanagan of Coggon was named to a first team pitching position; freshmen Sophie Maras of Johnston, Kaylie Reynolds of Muscatine and Delaney Kelley of Rock Island, Ill., were named to first team infield positions; freshman Abby Husak of Polk City was named to a first-team outfield position; and freshman Jada Collins of Des Moines was named the first team designated player.

 

Second-team honors went to freshman Alexis Lander of Onawa (pitching); freshman Sami Miller of Mason City (infield); and freshmen Haley Forret of Van Meter and Zoey Wright of Ottumwa (outfield).

 

DMACC freshmen Abby Archer of Van Meter and Ellie Jacobson of Humboldt received honorable mention recognition as a catcher and pitcher respectively.

 

Maras was named the 2021 Region XI Offensive player of the Year. She led the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) in batting (.537), home runs (28), runs batted in (89), hits (109), triples (6) and stolen bases (52). Maras also led the NJCAA in home runs and RBIs.

 

Including her postseason stats, Maras is currently hitting .529 with a .605 on-base percentage and a 1.086 slugging percentage. She has 111 hits in 210 at-bats, including 18 doubles, six triples and 29 home runs. Maras has scored 111 runs and driven in 92 runs. She has 52 stolen bases in 53 attempts.

 

Flanagan has a 19-4 record with a 2.57 earned run average and one save. She has pitched 133.2 innings, allowing 80 runs (49 earned runs) on 129 hits. She has struck out 162 batters, walked 31 and is averaging 8.48 strikeouts per seven innings pitched.

 

Reynolds is batting .410 with a .509 on-base percentage and a .966 slugging percentage. She has 73 hits in 178 at-bats, including 23 doubles, two triples and 24 home runs. Reynolds has scored 65 runs and driven in 84 runs.

 

Kelley has a .411 batting average with a .435 on-base percentage and a .625 slugging percentage. She has 79 hits in 192 at-bats, including 15 doubles, a triple and eight home runs. Kelley has scored 34 runs and driven in 79 runs.

 

Husak is batting .508 with a .567 on-base percentage and a .540 slugging percentage. Her 63 hits in 124 at-bats include four doubles. She has scored 62 runs, driven in 17 runs and has 39 stolen bases in 42 attempts.

 

Collins is hitting .377 with a .428 on-base percentage and a .553 slugging percentage. Her 60 hits in 159 at-bats include 16 doubles and four home runs. Collins has scored 26 runs and driven in 50 runs.

 

Lander is 17-4 with a 2.12 earned run average and two saves. She has pitched 132 innings, allowing 65 runs (40 earned runs) on 110 hits. Landers has struck out 99 batters and walked 38.

 

Miller is batting .339 with a .432 on-base percentage and a .697 slugging percentage. She has 56 hits in 165 at-bats, including 12 doubles, four triples and 13 home runs. Miller has scored 47 runs, driven in 54 runs and has 14 stolen bases in 16 attempts.

 

Forret has a .382 batting average with a .472 on-base percentage and a .719 slugging percentage. Her 34 hits in 89 at-bats include nine doubles and seven home runs. Forret has scored 28 runs, driven in 33 runs and has 11 stolen bases in 12 attempts.

 

Wright has a .325 batting average with a 420 on-base percentage and a .439 slugging percentage. She has 40 hits in 123 at-bats, including five doubles, three triples and a home run. Wright has scored 44 runs, driven in 16 runs and has 14 stolen bases in 16 attempts.

 

Archer is hitting .355 with a .452 on-base percentage and a .532 slugging percentage. She has 22 hits in 62 at-bats, including two doubles and three home runs. Archer has scored 11 runs and driven in 18 runs.

 

Jacobson is 13-4 with a 3.20 earned run average and one save. She has pitched 116 innings, allowing 82 runs (53 earned runs) on 134 hits. Jacobson has struck out 115 batters and walked 23 batters.
