The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) softball player Molly Jacobsen the ICCAC Division II Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 30 to May 6.

This is the eighth consecutive week that Jacobsen has earned the honor and the tenth time this season.

Jacobsen, a sophomore from Adel, surrendered two hits, struck out 18 batters and did not allow a run as the Bears defeated Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) 21-0 and 17-0 in winning the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Region XI-A Softball Tournament May 4 and 5 at the DMACC softball diamond.

In defeating ILCC twice, Jacobsen improved to 22-0 for the season. She has an earned run average of 0.17 and has struck out 241 batters in 126.1 innings. Jacobsen leads the ICCAC in earned run average and strikeouts and is second in wins.

Nationally, Jacobsen is ranked first in strikeouts, second in earned run average and fifth in wins.

Jacobsen has allowed eight runs this season, but just three earned runs. She has given up 35 hits, walked 12 batters and is averaging 13.35 strikeouts a game.

Jacobsen will be in the circle May 10 when DMACC hosts Dawson Community College (DCC) in the NJCAA Division II District H Softball Tournament. The two teams will play a doubleheader on May 10 and will play a third game, if necessary, on May 11.

The NJCAA Division II District H champion will advance to the NJCAA Division II Softball Championship May 16 to 19 at Clinton, Miss. DMACC is seeking its fifth consecutive trip to the national tournament and its sixth trip in the past seven seasons
