Top Ranked Bears to Face Iowa Lakes or Northeast in Region XI Play

Region XI-A Tournament Bracket

Pairings have been released for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI-A Division II Softball Championship that begins May 4 at the DMACC softball diamond.

 

The DMACC softball team, sporting a 40-0 record and a No. 1 ranking in the NJCAA Division II poll, is the No. 1 seed in the tournament and will face either Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) or Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) in its first tournament game. ILCC and NECC will square off at 2 p.m. on May 4 and DMACC will play the winner at 4 p.m.

 

The double-elimination tournament continues May 5 with the championship games scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. A second championship game, if necessary, would be played at noon on May 6.

 

The DMACC softball team owned both NECC and ILCC during the regular season, sweeping four games from both. The Bears defeated NECC by scores of 11-0, 11-2, 8-0 and 11-2. DMACC recorded 11-0, 4-3, 15-0, 15-0 wins against ILCC.

 

The winner of the Region XI-A tournament will face the winner of the NJCAA Region IX tournament in the District H Softball Tournament May 10 and 11 at the home of the Region XI-A champion.
