The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) softball player Molly Jacobsen the ICCAC Division II Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 16 to 22.

This marks the eighth time this season Jacobsen, a sophomore from Adel, has earned the honor and the sixth consecutive week she has been honored by the conference.

Jacobsen ran her record to 17-0 with three wins during the week, beating Ellsworth Community College (ECC), North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) and Iowa Central Community College (ICCC). Jacobsen allowed one run on two hits, struck out nine and walked three in a 4-1 win over ECC. She surrendered one hit, walked one and struck out eight in a 10-0 win over NIACC and allowed one run on three hits and struck out 12 in a 6-1 victory over ICCC.

Jacobsen improved to 18-0 with a perfect game against Kirkwood Community College (KCC) on April 25. For the season, she has five no-hitters, four of which were perfect games.

Jacobsen has an earned run average of 0.21 this season and is a key reason the Bears are ranked first in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll and lead the ICCAC at 18-0. She has pitched 106 and a third innings, allowing 32 hits and eight runs, three of which are earned. Jacobsen has struck out 201 batters, walked nine and is averaging more than 13 strikeouts a game. She leads the ICCAC in earned run average and strikeouts and is tied for second in wins.

Jacobsen also leads Division II of the NJCAA in strikeouts and is second in earned run average.

The DMACC softball team closes out the regular season with doubleheaders against Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) and North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) on April 28 and 29. The Bears will face ILCC April 28 at Estherville and will play NIACC April 29 at Mason City.
