DMACC's Molly Jacobsen named ICCAC DII Pitcher of the Week

Molly Jacobsen Pitcher of the Week

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) softball player Molly Jacobsen the ICCAC Division II Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 9 to 15.

 

This marks the seventh time this season Jacobsen, a sophomore from Adel, has been honored by the conference and the fifth consecutive week that she has received the honor.

 

Jacobsen compiled a 3-0 record during the week, pitching the Bears to victories against Kirkwood Community College (KCC) and Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC). She allowed two hits and struck out seven as the Bears, ranked first the the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, defeated the second-ranked Eagles, 6-0. Jacobsen tossed a five-inning no-hitter and struck out 10 in an 11-0 win over ILCC.

 

For the season, Jacobsen is 14-0 with an earned run average of 0.09. She has thrown 82 and a third innings, allowing 26 hits and six runs, only one of which is earned. Jacobsen has struck out 164 batters and walked five. She is averaging 13.94 strikeouts per game, leads the conference in earned run average and strikeouts and is third in victories.

 

Jacobsen leads Division II of the NJCAA in strikeouts and is third in earned run average.

 

The DMACC softball team, 28-0 for the season, faces Ellsworth Community College (ECC) in a doubleheader April 20 at the DMACC softball diamond. ECC is 9-19 overall and 3-9 in the ICCAC.
