DMACC's Molly Jacobsen Named ICCAC Pitcher of the Week

Molly Jacobsen Pitcher of the Week

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) softball player Molly Jacobsen the ICCAC Division II Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 19 to 25.

 

The honor is the fourth for Jacobsen this season. She was also named ICCAC Division II Pitcher of the Week for the weeks of Feb. 12 to 18; Feb. 26 to March 4; and March 12 to 18. Jacobsen, a sophomore from Adel, has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Pitcher of the Week for the weeks of Feb. 12 to 18 and March 12 to 18.

 

The ICCAC has also honored DMACC freshman Avery Guy of Cedar Rapids. She was named ICCAC Division II Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 12 to 18.

 

Jacobsen pitched DMACC to an 8-0 win over Southeastern Community College (SECC) during the week, striking out 16 batters over six innings. She leads the ICCAC in earned run average (0.13) and strikeouts (108) and ranks fourth in wins with eight. Nationally, Jacobsen ranks second in earned run average and fourth in strikeouts.

 

For the season, Jacobsen is 8-0 with seven complete games. Her 108 strikeouts have come over 52 innings and she is averaging 14.54 strikeouts a game. Jacobsen has allowed five runs, one earned run, and has given up 20 hits and five walks.

 

The DMACC softball team, 18-0 on the season and ranked second in NJCAA Division II, will host Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) in a doubleheader March 30 at the DMACC softball diamond. The first game begins at 2 p.m.
