DMACC's Molly Jacobsen Named Co-ICCAC Pitcher of the Week

Molly Jacobsen Pitcher of the Week

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) softball player Molly Jacobsen the Co-ICCAC Division II Pitcher of the Week for the week of February 26 to March 4.

 

Jacobsen, a sophomore from Adel, shares the honor with Courtney Johannes of North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC). This is the second time this season Jacobsen had been honored by the ICCAC.

 

Jacobsen was 2-0 during the week, pitching the Bears to victories against Coffeyville Community College (CCC) and Allen County Community College (ACCC). Jacobsen allowed just two hits ands struck out 12 in DMACC's 11-0 win over CCC. She surrendered seven hits, struck out 13 and walked one in an 8-4 victory against ACCC. None of the four runs scored against Jacobsen were earned.

 

Jacobsen is 3-0 for the season. She has pitched 20 innings and allowed four runs on 13 hits with 35 strikeouts and two walks. Jacobsen, who leads the ICCAC in earned run average at 0.00 and is fifth in strikeouts, is averaging 12.25 strikeouts per game.

 

Jacobsen is also one of DMACC's top hitters with a .273 batting average. She has three hits in 11 at-bats, has scored two runs and driven in seven runs. Her three hits include a double and a home run.

 

The DMACC softball team, ranked second in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, is 7-0 on the season. The Bears travel to Mississippi for games against Meridian Community College (MCC), Jones County Junior College (JCJC), Itawamba Community College (ICC), East Mississippi Community College (EMCC) and Northeast Mississippi Community College (NMCC) March 10 to 14. JCJC is the top ranked team in NJCAA Division II. ICC is ranked 11th and NECC is ranked 17th.
