DMACC's Molly Jacobsen named NJCAA Pitcher of the Week

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) softball player Molly Jacobsen the NJCAA Division II Pitcher of the Week for the week of February 12 to 18.

The honor is the second of the week of Jacobsen, who was named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Pitcher of the Week earlier this week.

Jacobsen, a sophomore from Adel and a returning National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II All-American, pitched a seven-inning shutout and struck out 10 batters as the Bears defeated Seminole (Okla.) State College, 1-0 in the first round of the Cowtown Classic Feb. 16 at Fort Worth, Texas.  Jacobsen scattered four hits and did not walk a batter in winning DMACC's season opener.

DMACC came into the game ranked fourth in NJCAA Division II. SSC is ranked 10th in NJCAA Division I.

The DMACC softball team will face Allen County Community College (ACCC) in a doubleheader Feb. 25 at Iola, Kan.
