DMACC men's basketball team tops ECC for eighth straight win

The DMACC men's basketball team stretched its winning streak to eight games with a 74-66 win over Ellsworth Community College (ECC) March 13 at Iowa Falls.

 

The Bears, ranked first in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, got a team-high 16 points from sophomore Mark Bradshaw of Chester, Penn. Sophomore Devin Wade-Henderson came off the bench to score 15 points and sophomores Ryan Schmitt of Van Meter and Zach Hobbs of Mesa, Ariz., reached double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively.

 

DMACC led 44-29 at halftime en route to their second win of the season against the Panthers. The Bears shot 46.9 percent in the win, hitting 23 of 49 field goal attempts. They were 8-of-17 from three-point range and 20-of-30 from the free throw line. Bradshaw and Hobbs were a combined 6-of-11 from three-point range with Bradshaw getting three three-pointers from six attempts and Hobbs making three of his five attempts from beyond the arc.

 

DMACC had a 29-27 advantage on the boards with Wade-Henderson pulling down six rebounds to lead the Bears. Hobbs and sophomore Willie guy of Cedar Rapids had five and 4 respectfully. Guy dished out sevenassists and Bradshaw led DMACC in steals with four.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team puts its national ranking and winning streak on the line March 17 when the Bears host Indian Hills Community College (IHCC). IHCC, an NJCAA Division I program, is 14-2 and is ranked 13th in NJCAA Division I. DMACC defeated the then eighth-ranked Warriors 75-64 when the two teams played Feb. 23 at Ottumwa.
