DMACC cross country team finishes fifth in Bill Buxton Invitational

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) cross country team came away with a fifth-place finish in the Bill Buxton Invitational August 31 at Indianola.

 

Simpson College captured the team championship with 20 points and DMACC scored 99 points in finishing fifth. Courtney Neuendorf of the Simpson Alumni won the individual competition, completing the 4K course in 16 minutes, 15 seconds.

 

Freshman Elizabeth Belling of Grimes led DMACC with a 12th-place finish in 18:57. Freshman Kianna Lechtenberg of Centerville finished 16th in 21:41 and freshman Sabrina Ure of Panora finished 19th in 22:12.

 

Freshmen Saylor Davis of Tripoli and Ashleigh White of Waukee rounded out DMACC's performance with 25th- and 27th-place finishes respectively. Davis cross the finish line in 23:43 and White posted a time of 24:13.

 

The DMACC cross country team will run in the Les Duke Invitational Sept. 8 at Grinnell.
