DMACC Cross Country Team Finishes Seventh in NJCAA Region XI Meet

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) cross country team came away with a seventh-place finish in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Cross Country Meet October 29 at Fort Dodge.

 

The Bears scored 192 points in finishing seventh. Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) took the team championship with 15 points and ICCC's Adva Cohen earned medalist honors, touring the 5k (3.1-mile) course in 17 minutes, 22 seconds.

 

Sophomore Molly Eyerly of Winterset led DMACC with a 32nd-place finish in 22:41. Sophomore Chasity Moody of Maxwell was 33rd in 22:52 and sophomore Jada Wierck of West Des Moines finished in 39th place with a time of 24:14. Freshmen Kristin Smith of Newton and Cassie Anderson of Knoxville rounded out DMACC's performance, finishing 45th and 48th respectively. Smith crossed the finish line in 26:28 and Anderson was timed in 35:52.

 

The DMACC cross country team will compete in the NJCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Championship Nov. 11 at Fort Dodge.
