DMACC volleyball team drops 3-0 decision to Indian Hills

 

The DMACC volleyball team slipped to 3-2 for the season following a 3-0 loss to Indian Hills Community College (IHCC) August 22 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

The Bears led throughout the first set before falling, 27-25. IHCC, ranked fourth in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, then took the next two sets, 25-17 and 25-13 to send DMACC to 3-2 for the season.

 

The Bears were led by sophomores Eden Wilson of Conrad and Zophi Hendricks of Defiance who had seven kills apiece. Sophomore Coryl Matheny of Glenwood came away with six kills.

 

The Bears hit .134 in the loss, getting 28 kills from 112 attacks with 13 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Emma Flathers of Treynor topped DMACC in assists with 23, sophomore Maddie Dunham of Nevada had a pair of ace serves and sophomore Keyna Prescott of Carroll led the Bears in digs with 19. Flathers contributed 11 digs.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will continue its homestand with matches against Highland (Kan.) Community College (HCC) and Spoon River College (SRC) Aug. 26 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
