Freshman Kylie Welch of Davenport had 12 kills and 18 digs to lead the DMACC volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Southeastern Community College (SECC) March 11 at West Burlington.

 

The Bears, ranked seventh in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), defeated the Blackhawks by scores of 25-20, 25-12, 25-20, pushing their current winning streak to four matches.

 

Welch hit .393 in the win, getting her 12 kills from 28 attacks with one hitting error. DMACC hit .292 with 43 kills from 113 attacks with 10 hitting errors.

 

Freshman Morgan Tupper of Nevada led the Bears in assists with 16 and freshman Elizabeth Pierce of Altoona added 13. Freshman Rachel Eddy of Dubuque had 17 digs and Tupper and sophomore Jordan Neely of Tiffin finished with 11 apiece. Freshman Abby Maue of Center Point topped the Bears in blocks with five, including four block assists.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will play Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) March 16 at Estherville. ILCC is 2-15, including a 3-0 loss to DMACC when the two teams played Jan. 31 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
