DMACC volleyball team takes 3-0 decision from NECC
  • Freshman Emma McKinney of Lytton leads DMACC with nine kills and a .600 hitting percentage
  • Sophomore Katelyn Courtney of Ames hits .462 and has eight blocks
  • Freshman Kylie Welch of Davenport contributes six kills and eight ace serves

 

Freshman Emma McKinney of Lytton had nine kills and four block assists to lead the DMACC volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) March 5 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

The Bears ran their record to 11-4 with a 25-16, 25-11, 25-20 win, beating NECC for the second time this season.

 

McKinney hit .600 with her nine kills coming from 15 attacks with no hitting errors. Sophomore Katelyn Courtney of Ames contributed seven kills, two ace serves and eight blocks, including six block assists, and freshman Kylie Welch of Davenport finished with six kills and eight ace serves. Courtney hit .462 in the win, getting her seven kills from 13 attacks with one hitting error.

 

As a team, DMACC hit .264 with 35 kills from 91 attacks with 11 hitting errors.

 

Freshmen Elizabeth Pierce of Altoona led the Bears in assists with 16 and freshman Morgan Tupper of Nevada added 10. Pierce also had a pair of ace serves and seven digs. Freshman Rachel Eddy of Dubuque led DMACC in digs with 14, Welch had 11 and sophomore Jordan Neely of Tiffin finished with 10.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will host Southwestern Community College (SWCC) March 9. Match time is 7 p.m. inside the DMACC gymnasium. SWCC is 3-11 including a 3-0 loss to DMACC Feb. 4 at Creston.
