Bears Throttle Iowa Lakes, Earns First Victory of Season

·         DMACC Earns its first Win of the Season with a 25-9, 25-15 and 25-8 Victory.

·         The Bears have only four hitting errors in the three sets.

·         Freshman Kylie Welch of Davenport and Freshman Anna Neihaus of Carroll excel, hitting .591 and .467 respectively.

 

The DMACC volleyball team defeated Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) 3-0 at the DMACC Boone Campus gymnasium on January 31 for the first win of the season for the Bears.    

 

DMACC won by scores of 25-9, 25-15 and 25-8.  DMACC is now 1-2 for the year.

 

Freshman Kylie Welch of Davenport led the Bears with 14 kills and freshman Anna Neihaus of Carroll added 8.  Welch hit .591 and Niehaus .467 in the three set game.  As a team, DMACC hit .415, getting 31 kills from 65 attacks with only 4 hitting errors.

 

Freshman Liz Pierce of Altoona led DMACC in assists with 13 and Morgan Tupper, a freshman from Nevada, added nine assists.  Rachel Eddy, a freshman from Dubuque, led DMACC in digs with 10 with Jordan Neely of Tiffin contributing eight digs. 

 

The Bears got 10 ace serves on the day, four from Welch and three each from Pierce and sophomore Katelyn Courtney of Ames.  Courtney also had four total blocks for the Bears.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will host Ellsworth Community College (0-4) on Tuesday, February 2.
