DMACC Volleyball Team Loses to Nationally Ranked Iowa Central
  • DMACC fell to seventh-ranked Iowa Central Community College in three sets.

  • DMACC has played two nationally ranked teams to start the season.

 

The DMACC volleyball team lost in three sets to Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) on Jan. 28th in Fort Dodge. Iowa Central is ranked seventh in the nation, according to the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll.

ICCC won by scores of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-14. DMACC is now 0-2 on the young season.

Freshman Kylie Welch of Davenport led the Bears with nine kills, and freshman Anna Neihaus of Carroll added five. DMACC hit .054 in the loss, getting 20 kills from 112 attacks with 14 hitting errors. 

Freshman Liz Pierce of Altoona led DMACC in assists with 11. Welch and Rachel Eddy, a freshman from Dubuque, led DMACC in digs with 14 each. Sophomore Katelyn Courtney of Ames and freshman Emma McKinney of Lytton each had four blocks for the Bears.

The DMACC volleyball team will next host Iowa Lakes Community College (1-2) on Sun., Jan. 30th, in Boone.
