DMACC VOLLEYBALL TEAM DROPS SEASON OPENER TO KIRKWOOD
  • DMACC Falls to Tenth Ranked Kirkwood Community College in Five Sets.

  • Freshman Kylie Welch of Davenport Leads the Bears with 17 kills.

  •  Dubuque freshman Rachel Eddy records 22 digs followed by 19 from sophomore Jordan Neely of Tiffin.

The DMACC volleyball team lost in five sets to Kirkwood Community College in DMACC's season opener played at the DMACC Boone Campus gymnasium. Kirkwood is ranked tenth in the nation according to the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll.  

 

Kirkwood won by scores of 21-25, 26-24, 25-15, 24-26 and 15-13.    

 

Freshman Kylie Welch of Davenport led the Bears with 17 kills and freshman Anna Neihaus of Carroll came away with 10.  DMACC hit .156 in the loss, getting 47 kills from 167 attacks with 21 hitting errors.

 

Freshman Liz Pierce of Altoona led DMACC in assists with 31.  Rachel Eddy, a freshman from Dubuque, led DMACC in digs with 22, followed by 19 digs from sophomore Jordan Neely of Tiffin. Welch and Pierce also game up with 15 digs each.  Freshman Allissa Weinhoetz of Afton had seven total blocks for the Bears.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will travel to Fort Dodge on Thursday, January 28 to play Iowa Central Community College (ICCC). ICCC is ranked seventh in the nation in NJCAA Division II.
