Morgan Tupper of Nevada High School has signed a national letter of intent to attend Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and play volleyball.

Tupper, the sister of former DMACC volleyball standout Gillian Tupper, is the first commitment to the DMACC volleyball program for the 2020-21 school year.

Tupper said she chose DMACC because of its close proximity to her home.

"DMACC feels like home to me," Tupper said. "I am very familiar with the area and it gives me comfort knowing my sister, Gillian, went there and still lives close to the campus. I love the campus, the coaching staff and the area. I know (DMACC volleyball coach Patty Harrison) will take care of me and I'm excited to get to know the other (volleyball players)."

Tupper said she plans to enroll in DMACC's nursing program.

"DMACC has a very good nursing program and (the Bears) always excel in volleyball," Tupper said. "The dedication everyone has to the volleyball program is just right for me. I am so excited to further my academic and volleyball career in such a hard-working and competitive environment."

Tupper, a setter, helped Nevada to a 33-10 record and a berth in the Class 3A state tournament this past season with 995 assists, averaging 9.21 assists per set. Her season also included 208 digs and 41 blocks, including 33 block assists. Tupper also had 35 ace serves and hit .304 with 79 kills from 194 attacks with 20 hitting errors. She earned all-conference honorable mention honors as a sophomore and was named to the first all-conference team as a junior. Tupper's senior season saw her again earn first-team all-conference honors. She was also named to the all-district team and received all-state honorable mention.

Tupper also participates in track, soccer, tennis and cheerleading at Nevada High School and she has been named to the school honor roll throughout high school.
