DMACC volleyball team sweeps Iowa Lakes CC, 3-0

Sophomore Amber Dilsaver of Fort Madison had 11 kills, hit .320 and added four ace serves to lead the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) October 2 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

The Bears won by scores of 25-7, 25-17, 25-10 to improve to 11-11 overall and 3-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

Dilsaver got her 11 kills from 25 attacks with just three hitting errors. As a team, the Bears hit .227 with 30 kills from 88 attacks and 10 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Cailey Schaa of Council Bluffs led DMACC in assists with 25, had three ace serves and led the Bears in digs with 13. Sophomore Kyra Ikeda of Cedar Rapids finished with 12 digs and freshman Dakota Miles of Dallas Center added 11. Dilsaver also led DMACC in blocks with six, including four block assists. Freshman Katelyn Courtney of Ames and Delaney Kelley of Rock Island, Ill., had five blocks apiece. Both Courtney and Kelley had three solo blocks.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will host the DMACC Tournament Oct. 4 and 5 inside the DMACC gymnasium. The Bears will face Parkland College (PC) and Waubonsee Community College (WCC) on Oct. 4 and will play Highland Community College (HCC) and Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) on Oct. 5. PC is the No. 1-ranked team in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll. HCC is ranked seventh in NJCAA Division II and RCTC is ranked first in NJCAA Division III.
