DMACC volleyball team falls to ICCC in Region XI-B title match

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team saw its season come to a close following a 3-2 loss to Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI-B championship match November 4 at Iowa Falls.

 

The Bears fell by scores of 26-24, 20-25, 25-23, 16-25, 12-15 to end the season at 19-19. With the win, ICCC avenged a 3-1 loss to DMACC during the regular season.

 

Freshman Peyton Parker of La Porte City led DMACC with 20 kills and sophomore Lauren Rieck of Ankeny and freshman Madison Paulsen of Council Bluffs had 17 and 12 kills respectively. The Bears hit .186 in the match, getting 57 kills from 129 attacks with 33 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Leiah Paustian of Marshalltown led DMACC in assists with 42 and sophomore Rachael Bair of Braddyville had a team-high 28 digs, leading four players in double figures in digs. Paustian had 26 digs, Paulsen finished with 24 and freshman Gill Tupper of Nevada came away with 16. Rieck led the Bears in blocks with six, including four block assists, and Paustian had five blocks, including three block assists.
