DMACC Volleyball Team Falls to Indian Hills in Regular-Season Finale, 3-0

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Indian Hills Community College (IHCC) Oct. 30 inside the DMACC gymnasium in the Bears' final match of the regular season.

 

Set scores were 13-25, 18-25, 27-29 as DMACC closed the regular season at 18-18.

 

Sophomore Lauren Rieck of Ankeny and freshman Madison Paulsen of Council Bluffs led the Bears with eight kills apiece and freshman Peyton Parker of La Porte City finished with seven kills. DMACC hit .107 in the loss, getting 23 kills from 84 attacks with 14 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Leiah Paustian of Marshalltown had 21 assists in the match and sophomore Rachael Bair of Braddyville topped the Bears in digs with eight. Paulsen and freshman Gill Tupper of Nevada had seven digs apiece and freshman Lacey Clark of Bettendorf led DMACC in blocks with four, including three block assists. Rieck and Parker finished with three blocks apiece.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will host Ellsworth Community College (ECC) in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI-B Volleyball Tournament Nov. 1. Match time is 7 p.m. inside the DMACC gymnasium. DMACC defeated ECC, 3-0, during the regular season.

 

The DMACC-ECC winner will face either Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) or Southeastern Community College (SECC) in the NJCAA Region XI-B championship match Nov. 4 at Iowa Falls. The Region XI-B champion will advance to the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship Nov. 16 to 18 at Charleston, W.V.
