DMACC Volleyball Team Improves to 15-15 with 3-1 Win Over SWCC

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team ran its record to 15-15 overall and 6-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with a 3-1 win over Southwestern Community College (SWCC) October 18 at Creston.

 

Set scores were 25-21, 22-25, 27-25, 25-21.

 

Freshman Peyton Parker of La Porte City led the Bears to the win with 20 kills. Freshman Madison Paulsen of Council Bluffs and sophomore Lauren Rieck of Ankeny came away with 12 and 11 kills respectively and freshman Lacey Clark of Bettendorf had nine kills. DMACC hit .242 in the win, getting 57 kills from 149 attacks with 21 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore setter Leiah Paustian of Marshalltown contributed 50 assists to the win and sophomore Rachael Bair of Braddyville had two ace serves and topped the Bears in digs with 16. Paulsen finished with 15 digs, Paustian had 13 and Parker had 10. Rieck and Clark led DMACC in blocks with three apiece.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will play in the Triton Volleyball Invitational today and Oct. 21 at Fort Dodge. The Bears will face Highland Community College (HCC) and North Platte Community College (NPCC) today and will play Cowley County Community College (CCCC) and Labette Community College (LCC) on Oct. 21.
